Hillarys new Venetian blind collection is a diverse, up to the minute mix of bold bright colours, contemporary patterns and textures, cool metallics, earthy tones and an enhanced range of gorgeous shimmer effects. With more than 90 different slats to choose from, the collection has been split into 12 different groups ranging from classic
Stripes and the candy-coloured deliciousness of Ice Cream to the pulsating vibrancy of Rio Carnival, the seventies disco feel of Shimmer and upfront practicality of Urban and Aluwood.
"From the catwalk to the high street, current trends are all about pattern and strong colour," says Sarah Quilliam, head of product design. "Our new Venetians collection picks up on those themes and features some really unusual designs such as Paisley Gold,
metallic Treadplate and Sparkle Black, a lustrous shimmering black shot through with gold.
"Whilst experimenting with colour or pattern at your window is a great way to give a nod to a trend," she adds, "we do appreciate that not everyone wants a statement blind at their window. So our collection also includes an extensive choice of mellow and more
traditional colours and designs.
"Venetian blinds are perhaps the most effective way to control the light," she continues, "as they can be adjusted to filter, or totally cut out the light or, pulled up completely to let it flood in. And of course, they're a great way to keep rooms cool and comfortable when
it's hot outside - much more eco-friendly than reaching for the air con!
"They're also perfect for bathrooms and kitchens or any room that's likely to get particularly warm or steamy - especially our Aluwood range which combines the practicality of aluminium blinds with the look of natural wood."
Hillarys Venetians are available in 4 different slat widths* - 15mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm. "It's really a matter of taste as to which size you go for," says Sarah, "although the light-filtering properties do vary slightly with more light coming through the wider the slat. 50mm slats look particularly effective in period properties and we're currently finding that they're becoming more popular, particularly with the fashion forward customer.
