Beat the summer heat with blinds

The summer sun can make home unbearably hot, but the answer could lie in the choice of window dressing, one website has said.

According to a JustMeans.com article, entitled ‘Summer’s hot, but your house doesn’t have to be,’ many people fail to make the necessary changes to their homes in preparation for the new season.

But there are some simple solutions to the problem, the website says, as simply by fitting blinds, a property can be much more effective in keeping a property both light and cool.

"To allow sunlight in to reduce the amount of lights used during the day, but also keep excessive heat at bay, one could opt for blinds and adjust throughout the hours," the website advises.

Blinds can help to drastically reduce the intensity of the sun’s heat and are especially useful in conservatories.

According to HomesandGardens.com, blinds can play a big role in making conservatories more eco-friendly.
