Blinds can help people sleep through the summer

The recent heatwave has left many people struggling to get a good night’s sleep as they toss and turn in stuffy rooms.

Speaking to the Sun, sleep expert Dr Ian Smith, from Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, said that people should keep their curtains or blinds closed all day to prevent bedrooms from overheating when the sun is shining.

He also suggested people should buy some light bedding and purchase a fan for their bedroom.

Dr Smith added that making sure bedrooms are as dark as possible, using thick blinds or heavy curtains, can also help people get a better night’s sleep.

“Many kids go to bed when it’s still light, which will make it extra hard for them to sleep if it’s hot,” he told the news provider.

“So make sure their room is as cool as possible and block out as much light as you can.”ADNFCR-3100-ID-19874302-ADNFCR
