Blinds ’spice up a room’s decor’

Window blinds can "spice up" a room’s decor and give a space a sleek and sophisticated profile, according to one design expert.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, furnishing designer Gautam Gupta said that windows are a noticeable part of any room, and as such it is important to dress them stylishly.

"Window blinds come in different finishes such as European wood, vinyl, metallic or sheer fabric. Cordless blinds are available that give the window a clean look without dangling lift cords," she noted.

Ms Gupta added that people should choose their style of blind depending on the shape and size of their windows, but recommended mini, vertical, horizontal and Roman blinds.

The expert also noted that people can personalise their blinds by opting for sleek, motorised versions or embellished blinds with decorative beading.

Last week, Ideal Home magazine said that opting for blinds in contrasting colours can create a design statement.
