Bring the outside indoors with shutters

With warm weather on its way, it’s an ideal time to bring the outside indoors by seamlessly blending a garden with an adjoining room.

Sarah Warwick, an interior design expert writing for Channel4.com, said the move could open up a space and capitalise on the best of the weather.

Blinds which can be fully pulled back in daylight hours, such as roller blinds or shutters, are ideal for creating a blend between the inside space and the garden beyond, she revealed.

Carrying the theme of a room to the garden outside has the same impact, and Ms Warwick suggests matching interior furnishings with flowers and garden furniture to achieve that effect.

A versatile, durable floor that can be laid outside as well as in also builds the relationship between the two spaces.

Blinds are also an eco-friendly option for a conservatory, as they help to retain heat in the winter and reflect it in the summer.
