Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Hillarys blinds, the UK’s number 1 for Blinds, Shutters and Awnings has pledged its continued support for charities throughout the year. Despite the credit crunch meaning many companies cutting back on contributions, Hillarys Blinds will continue to support a number of charities. They have a dedicated charity committee, which regularly organises fundraising events.

Just some of the charities benefiting from Hillarys fundraising this year have been NSPCC, Children in Need and Cancer Research – through various events including a Christmas raffle, charity football match, quiz and book sale. These events raised a total of over £2,200 for the charities.

Plus for Red Nose day Hillarys raised £212 by donating money for every order made on its sister site web-blinds.com

Be energy efficient with blinds

Friday, October 10th, 2008

As we all constantly strive to become “greener” and more energy efficient, why not let your blinds work for you? Energy saving fabrics are being used to make blinds that will keep the heat out in summer and the heat in during our cold winters.

Hillarys blinds might just have the answer to your energy saving blinds answers. You can choose between Roman blinds and Pleated blinds to help you save more energy. It is all because of the fabric has a performance backing that will help keep your rooms nice and cool in the warmer summer months.

These blinds will not only provide you with great window coverings but will in turn help reduce the amount of cash you spend on heating and cooling every year. Your living comfort will improve and at the same time you can also update the overall décor of the rooms you decide to install them in.

Pleated blinds are very handy in the winter when you can open your blinds easily to let as much light and heat in as possible and then when you close them, they start working at keeping all that heat in.

These blinds come in a wide range of colours and shades, so it won’t be difficult to find a match for your home. So why not try Hillarys blinds and see if you can find what you are looking for, I think you might just be astonished at their great selection. What do you have to lose?

Customer feedback – how our blinds look at your windows!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Here at Hillarys we love to hear your feedback – yes even the bad comments as it means we can improve our service all the time. We especially like you sending in your photos of our blinds when they’ve been fitted by one of our expert advisors – see www.hillarys.co.uk or when you’ve done it yourself – see www.web-blinds.com

Ms Conway in Kent recently sent us some photos of her vertical blinds in action she says ‘I have a large bay window at the front of my home and wanted blinds to block out the light however i didn’t want to loose the bay by having blinds that went across like curtains’ our expert local advisor went round and measured and fitted a curved bay for her which went round the bay window rather than covering it up.

Ms Conway says she was very pleased with the results and will be getting the rest of her house done. As you can see from the photo below the blinds really add to her home.

If you have a photo of your blinds you’d like to send in please send them to enquiries@hillarys.co.uk and ask for them to be sent to marketing.

Top Tips for Winter Conservatories

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Winter’s coming up quickly if you’re looking for blinds for your conservatory in the coming months then take a look at our top tips:

Beware of bright winter sun

It’s easy to turn a blind eye when it comes to the winter sun, but it can be just as harmful as glorious summer sunshine, which is why it’s always a good idea to stop your carpets and interior furnishings from fading. Blinds are therefore a great solution. And by fitting verticals, you’ll easily be able to control the light round the sides of your conservatory.

Don’t let your conservatory cool down

During the chilly winter season, your conservatory might become rather cold and dreary. Pleated blinds are an ideal way to combat this as they are available in a wide range of specialist fabrics, which will help retain that much-needed heat. You can fit pleateds into your roof for maximum warmth and then choose any other blind style and colour for around the sides.

Never neglect the space

By integrating the conservatory into the rest of your home, it will have more of a purpose so you could ideally go into it every day. With Christmas and New Year’s Eve on the horizon, why not make it into a jazzy games room to celebrate and dance the night away. And when your friends have had one too many glasses of bubbly, you could offer up your new conservatory bedroom for them to sleep it off! Or if you’d just like somewhere to chill out, pull a cracker or even carve up the turkey, a lounge or dining room would make the perfect, easy choice, making the most of your valuable space.

Pleated blinds start at £76 (46cm wide x 91cm drop) measured, made and fitted.
