How could vertical blinds owners make a wallpaper statement? In order to make a statement with their home interiors, a commentator has noted that people’s wallpaper choices are becoming less conventional.

Speaking in an article published by Delaware Online, interior design expert Mary Cairns has pointed out some of the more unusual options that some people seem to be going for at the moment.

Ms Cairns, who works for Mary Cairns Interiors, told the news provider: “Ten years ago, people were using more traditional stuff, but I’ve worked with materials like cork, leather, and grass cloth with twigs and sticks in.”

However, it is not only their walls that people may be keen to change the look of in the near future.

Householders looking to spice up their properties, perhaps through the adoption of made to measure vertical blinds, might also want to heed the bedroom guidance offered by Warren Evans, who feels paintwork could improve the appearance of a room.ADNFCR-3100-ID-800009180-ADNFCR

Choose window blinds for a decorative touch

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Choose window blinds for a decorative touchThe addition of window blinds to a home can improve its aesthetic appeal and give homeowners more control over the ambience of their interiors.

Interior design enthusiast Frances Stanford said on Helium.com that blinds “add decorative touches” to a window and can enhance the decor of any room.

In addition, they are ideal for controlling the amount of light that is allowed into a space, giving freedom to decide what mood you want to create at any given time.

Ms Stanford said the main decision for those undertaking home improvement projects is to decide which type of blind would best suit the look of the room.

Vertical blinds may be ideal for a larger window, while Roman blinds could easily be incorporated into a themed room, she explained.

Life psychologist Uwe Linke recently told the Hindu that people should be single-minded when it comes to redecorating and not try to create a finished product that pleases someone else.ADNFCR-3100-ID-19894382-ADNFCR

Create a sense of space with vertical blinds

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Create a sense of space with vertical blindsVertical blinds could be the answer for homeowners looking to overcome the problems presented by a perceived lack of space.

According to FreshHome.com, the fitting of blinds can be used on outward-facing windows or glass doors that separate rooms within a house, helping to create an illusion of added room.

Other tips offered by the interior design ideas site include making use of multi-purpose furniture, such as sofa-beds or a coffee table that can also be used as a bookshelf or one that features drawers.

Arranging the space to maximise its potential is the real key, with the website suggesting larger items should be placed against a well in order to use every inch of a room economically.

In addition, cleanliness and good lighting can greatly enhance the appearance of a room, FreshHome.com suggested.

On the flip side, blinds can be used to make a large room look smaller, according to LoveHome.co.uk.ADNFCR-3100-ID-19891631-ADNFCR

Architect fits vertical blinds in stylish design

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Architect fits vertical blinds in stylish designA leading architect has fitted blinds in a redesigned apartment in the American city of Seattle, reports the Seattle Times.

Jim Olson wanted to create a space which afforded optimum views to the surrounding cityscape, and opted for ceiling-to-floor glass windows, adorned with vertical blinds.

Kathy Ferguson and her husband, Gordon, are the lucky inhabitants of the 4,200-square-foot property in the Millennium Tower, and they told the news provider they were amazed by the transformation.

The couple wanted to be able to showcase their vast collection of paintings and pieces of modern art, and Olson’s design allowed them to do this, making the most of the natural light.

Included in the Ferguson’s collection is a collection of life-size sculptural figures and minimalist paintings.

Olson specialises in residential properties and in 2007 his work was recognised by the city’s local architecture society when he was awarded the Seattle AIA Medal of Honour.
