Enliven a living room with green-coloured blinds

Colour and style are important elements to consider when trying to brighten up a home.

Design expert Sarah Van Arsdale, from Sheffield School of Interior Design, told RentalDecorating.com that using a green colour scheme can give a room a refreshing feel.

The combination of white and green works particularly well, according to the designer, meaning green-coloured blinds could be contrasted with white walls to create a fresh look.

Ms Van Arsdale described the theme as "casually elegant" and "ideal for summer".

She also recommended opting for white furnishings and white-painted wooden side tables to enhance the look.

Maintaining a green and white colour scheme throughout ensures everything works in concert and ensures the overall effect is one of subtlety and stylish understatement.

Home decorating website DomestikGoddess.com says homeowners have two main style choices in going for a green theme, both equally attractive but in different moods. "Go bright and bold or subtle and nostalgic," it advises.
