Go for variety in a room with blinds

They say variety is the spice of life and where better to prove the point and make a statement than in your own home?

While it is common for people to pick a theme and stick dutifully to its conventions as they carry out home improvements, an Interiordec.com blog advised homeowners to be more adventurous.

So while Roman blinds may be suited to a Mediterranean theme, they can also be fitted in a more eclectic-looking room.

The website suggests that colours can be mixed and matched too, with contrasting tones often working just as well as those that complement each other.

Being more adaptable and open-minded when redecorating a space means it is easier to make purchases as things can’t be ruled out on the basis they don’t fit one particular theme.

Interior designer Linda Barker said eclectic themes are “exciting” and she encouraged more homeowners to try it.
