Match the colours of summer in a room with blinds

The key to designing a room for summer is to match it with the colours of the season, according to Love to Know.

Soft blue reflects the sky, while lush green lawns can be matched by plants inside the house, or complemented by white furnishings and blinds, the interior design website advises.

And light-coloured blinds can help usher in the summer months too.

"Refresh a room for summer by painting it a bright white, or create bright summer window treatments in yellow, lavender, or sienna," the website adds.

Pastel colours are perfect for capturing the relaxed, easygoing feel of summer, while rustic-style furniture is a big a favourite at this time of year, as are wicker features.

The website also says that stenciling is a cheap and creative way to bring new life to a room, while also adding a touch of character.

According to HomeDesignSense, now is the ideal time of year to redesign a room.
