Window blinds ideal for ‘light and private’ interiors

A home should be a sanctuary, free from prying eyes, and according to one expert window blinds can help achieve that feeling of privacy without compromising on the need for natural light.

Interior designer Sally Jones said on Helium.com that there were a few ways to balance the needs of light and privacy, offering several suggestions for different rooms.

In a bathroom, frosted glass is ideal but she still advised the fitting of blinds for a more secluded feel, with roller or Venetian blinds highly recommended.

“People generally prefer blinds or pull down shades, both of which allow some degree of light to pass through while maintaining as much privacy as you wish,” she noted.

Blinds can also be added to a bedroom to create a restful retreat which may also offer some respite from the warmth of the summer sun.

Interiors expert Sarah Lonsdale told the Daily Telegraph that Brits were taking inspiration from European homes by fitting window shutters and awnings.
