Specialist fitters install the more complicated, technical products in the Hillarys range – conservatory roof blinds, shutters and awnings. They require practical DIY skills and often have a trade background. Allan relished the opportunity to make the most of his carpentry skills.

He, along with the rest of the specialist fitting team, are provided with extensive training at the Hillarys Training Academy. This training will continue throughout his career.

Allan was surprised by how lucrative his new career at Hillarys was and found he was earning more doing less hours than he was in his full time job. He now works full time but can still fit his hours around his many leisure interests.

"I had worked in the blinds industry for a number of years," says Sam, "but was keen to join Hillarys because of the company's size, good reputation within the business and the fact that it's been trading very successfully for nearly 40 years."

As a senior fitter within Hillarys, Sam also trains other fitters. "I really enjoy the sense of achievement that comes from passing experience onto others and helping to develop their skills. I also get a real buzz from doing a good job and getting positive feedback from customers."

Compared to previous roles Sam also believes that the work is more consistent with a steady stream of leads to follow up.

"It's a flexible role which I can fit around my family and other commitments," adds Sam. "The training and ongoing support are first class and I'd really recommend it to anyone who wants to work for a market leading flourishing company."
