Hillarys Advisors come from all sorts of backgrounds but all share a commitment to high customer service and a desire to succeed.
Since the role covers selling, fitting and organisation of the business, the skills are varied. An ability to communicate with a wide variety of people is important and since Advisors visit customers in their own homes it’s important that they show due respect to others’ property. The best Advisors are well organised, turn up on time, keep their customers informed and are able to put people at ease, offering advice and guidance to the customer.
Advisors tend to be competent at DIY and have a full selection of tools. Although installation is not difficult and full training is provided, the best Advisors are confident in their ability to drill in a customer’s house and make a tidy job of the fitting. In time more experienced Advisors will measure and install blinds in conservatories, including in the roof.
Good organisational skills are important. Advisors need to manage their diaries, keep a record of orders and payments, keep track of their commission statements and liaise with a number of departments at Hillarys head office. However, during the first three months of their business Advisors are given extra support while they learn the ropes, so there is time to learn.
Of equal importance to the above is personal appearance and presentation. The best Advisors are always smart in appearance and take pride in their personal presentation.
