I have been an Advisor with Hillarys for almost 6 weeks now and am already conservatory trained. I am due to attend a shutters training course in early July.
I enjoy the flexibility of the working hours, managing my own time and meeting people. I work approximately 40hrs per week and carry out 15-20 appointments a week.
My typical day runs something like this; helping my partner in the morning with our children, admin work, then appointments between 12pm and 7pm with 2 days a week dedicated to fitting.
I get great satisfaction in seeing the end result & happy customers.

We started in December 1996. It was my love of colours and the fact I’m a people person that attracted me to the job. I love being around different people and hearing different points of view. I hear some wonderful stories from customers but also some very sad ones. I really like to try and put colours and different ideas together, so in a way, doing Hillary's ticks lots of the boxes for me.
What started out, as a part time venture is now a full time job. My husband and I work as a team. I do all the sales calls and Ian does the fitting. Ian would rather not sell and I don't do drills, so for us it works really well. Between us we cover every aspect of the job.
I work full time. What started as possibly a bit of a hobby has now become a very serious commitment. Hours per week? Well that is a difficult one, as it varies a great deal but it’s really up to us to decide how many hours we want to put in.
A typical day as an Advisor; shower, breakfast and then out to talk the legs off the poor unsuspecting public. Lots of driving, lots of being amazed at how different people want their houses to look and lots of being amazed at how great people’s imaginations are.
The thing that I enjoy about the business is the product. The fact that I have such confidence in it comes across to people. I also love the contact with people. Never take any notice of folks that tell you the public is unfriendly. In my experience, they are very nice. I have a very good laugh with a most of my customers. I think the public is great. One thing to remember is that you are always there because you have been invited into their home, there is no cold calling involved. They made the phone call because they wanted you to be there. You will always be welcome.
