Questions on our children’s bedroom curtains?

See answers to our most popular questions about kids bedroom curtains and baby curtains below. If you can't find what you're looking for, all of our FAQs are here.

Do all blinds and curtains need child safety features?

Yes, all of Hillarys products conform to European safety legislation. Read more here.

How can curtains make my child’s bedroom more cosy?

Curtains are excellent insulators and will help reduce heat loss from you children's bedroom window to create a warm and cosy space for them to sleep. To keep as much heat as possible in their room, choose curtains with a blackout lining or thermal lining - it'll help reduce heat loss by 14% to keep the space cosier. In summer, they can also help keep a room cooler by reducing the amount of heat that enters. A blackout lining will also help block the light so your little one can settle down to a peaceful nights' sleep without the sunlight keeping them up. Choose naturally thicker curtain fabrics like velvet or layer curtains over a made-to-measure blind to improve their thermal qualities even further. Closing your child's curtains by dusk will help insulate the bedroom windows at night and keep the space feeling cosy.

Are curtains safe in a nursery?

Yes, curtains are ideal for a nursery as they are child safe by design, without any operating cords. It goes without saying that all Hillarys products conform to European safety legislation. You can read more about our child safe products here.

Should you have blackout curtains in a kids bedroom?

Yes, blackout curtains are a great choice for a child's bedroom, as they help to encourage a good night's sleep. All of our curtain fabrics are available with blackout linings, which help to block unwanted light. For an extra dark environment, you could even layer blackout curtains over a blackout blind. Your local advisor can recommend the best blackout designs from our range, tailored to you.
