What we say about pinch pleat curtains

    • Pinch pleat curtains use more fabric than pencil pleat curtains, creating a sumptuous look with elegant folds.
    • Double pleat curtains have a double fold at the top to create a double pinch pleat, and triple pinch pleat curtains have a triple fold.
    • Double pleats are a good choice for patterned fabrics as less of the pattern is gathered into the fold.
    • A triple pinch pleat header is best for a more sophisticated, tailored appearance.
    • Pinch pleat blackout curtains with blackout linings are perfect for privacy and creating a cosy atmosphere, especially in bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms.
    • Pinch pleat curtains can be fitted onto a curtain pole or track.

    Questions on our curtains?

See answers to our most frequently asked questions on pinch pleat curtains. If you have a question about our service or your appointment, see our FAQs here.

    What are pinch pleat curtains?

Pinch pleat curtains have an elegant and decorative heading, where the fabric is drawn together into stitched pleats at the top. Choose a double pinch or a triple pinch, depending upon your personal style.

How do I hang pinch pleat curtains?

It can be tricky to hang pinch pleat curtains, as you need to install the hooks at exactly the correct points so that the length is how you want it. With Hillarys, you advisor will precisely fit your curtains so that the length is spot on. It's all included in the price as part of our service!

How do I measure for pinch pleat curtains?

The width of your curtains depends on the width of your window, how much space you have around it, and the overall look you'd like to achieve. The depth of your curtains is based on where your curtain pole or track is positioned. You may want to position it as high as possible if you're trying to make your window look taller. It's also worth thinking about if you want your curtains to puddle on the floor. That's quite a lot to consider, but your local advisor will give you all the advice you need at your in-home appointment.

Can pinch pleat curtains go on a track?

Yes, they can go on a curtain track or pole. You can choose a curtain pole in a wooden, metallic and painted finish to coordinate with your décor. Alternatively, select a discreet curtain track so that all eyes will be on your gorgeous curtain fabric.

Do Pinch pleat curtains keep heat in?

Yes, all our made-to–measure curtains can help to keep a space warmer and banish draughts. They do this by reducing the air exchange between your cold windows and warm room. Heavier fabrics, such as velvet, are great insulators, especially when they're teamed with a thermal or blackout lining. At your in-home appointment, your local advisor can recommend the best cosy options for your home.

How do pinch pleat curtains work?

Pinch pleat curtains are made with evenly spaced, sewn-in pleats along the heading or top of the curtain fabric. These pleats are created by folding and sewing together sections of the fabric. They are typically hung using hooks or rings on a curtain pole. Each pleat has a small pocket or space where the hook or ring is inserted, so the curtains can be easily hung and you get a consistent, even drape. When you open or close pinch pleat curtains, the pleats neatly fold and unfold with the fabric between the pleats gathering in a structured form for a neat and sophisticated look.

Are pinch pleat curtains out of style?

Pinch pleat curtains are a classic and timeless choice for your window, known for their elegant and tailored appearance. They look great in all kinds of interiors, from chic or formal environments to relaxed settings. Because of the depth of the folds, pinch pleat curtains bring out the best of a bold pattern or a rich material.
