How do I dress up plain curtains?

We make our made-to-measure curtains to your personal specifications, so they can be as plain or as elegant as you like! Go for simple classic looks, or brighten your space with matching or contrasting tie backs and cushion covers, and finish the whole look off with a beautiful pole with a choice of finishes and finial styles. The header style you choose can make your curtains look more formal too. Your local advisor will give you plenty of advice and guidance at your in-home appointment.

How do choose between plain or patterned curtains?

This is a personal decision and depends on your preferences, your existing décor and whether there are already patterns in your room. It’s a good idea to narrow down your choice of colours first, then decide if you’d like a pattern or a solid block of colour at your window. If you decide to go for a plain colour, we have a huge range to choose from. Choose a neutral shade for a stylish, understated look that will complement your décor. Alternatively, go for a textured fabric to add interest and give your space added depth. To help you decide, you can order up to eight free samples and look at them in the comfort of your own home or request your in-home appointment.

How to customise plain curtains to make them more interesting?

Choosing made-to-measure curtains is all about being able to tailor the design to your taste, and with our variety of custom options you can create a look that’s unique to your style. With a choice of performance linings you can add an extra insulating layer or help block out the light in rooms that require a darker setting. Or, choose a coloured option for dramatic impact from the outside. You've also got a choice of how you’d like you curtains to hang, whether on a pole or track. There are options for how your curtain attach to a pole too, with our range of header types. And not forgetting the final finishing flourish. All our curtain fabrics are available as cushion covers and tie backs for a truly coordinated result.

When you place an order with us, we'll make your curtains to the exact measurements of your windows. We'll fit them for you too so they cover your window perfectly, unlike ready made curtains which might leave larger gaps around the edges for light or draughts to creep through.
