Olive Greens

#NewSpringStyle inspired by catwalk trends

Tara Hall by Tara Hall

As the clothes we see on the catwalk increasingly influence the way we decorate our rooms, home interest magazines have begun to mirror their high-fashion counterparts. Each month, we will take an in-depth look at an emerging trend and offer ideas on ways to use this in your interior.

With the official start of spring almost upon us, the changing of the season is a time for new beginnings. This might be a fresh look or project. And if the latter is a decorating project, now is a great opportunity to channel the beautiful transformations taking place outside.

Greens are associated with springtime, as they reflect the natural world coming alive. So it’s no surprise that designers often use the hues in their spring / summer collections. This year, olive palettes are proving particularly popular.

At the Ralph Lauren show, models strutted down the runway is chic khakis. The overall impression was one of an upmarket safari! While over at Gucci, it was all about the reinvention of seventies style.

If you decide to add a splash of gorgeous green to your wardrobe, you’ll find lots of affordable options on the high street and online. Similarly, introducing the hue to your décor scheme doesn’t have to cost the earth.

Window dressings are a great, low-commitment way to reference the look. In our kitchen, we went for a vivid blind, and kept our other furnishings fairly neutral. This Tetbury Moss design was taken from our new Roman blinds and curtains range.

Last but not least, our conservatory was the ideal place to bring the great outdoors in, so we went all out and painted the walls a statement shade. Our Acacia Olive Roller blinds and rustic accessories supplied lovely finishing touches.

In our dining room, an eye-catching pattern was the order of the day, as we wanted to make a feature of our breath-taking bay. These Rayna Apple Roman blinds from our latest collection fitted the bill beautifully. Their contemporary print proves that florals don’t have to be chintzy.

These Almeria Grass Roller blinds also update the classic floral theme. Bold botanical motifs are the perfect partners for lush greens. In our living room, we chose decorative valances to give our Rollers a tailored finish.
