As the clothes we see on the catwalk increasingly influence the way we decorate our rooms, home interest magazines have begun to mirror their runway counterparts. Each month, we will take an in-depth look at an emerging trend and offer ideas on ways to use this in your interior.
This month, we’re going crazy over the Club Tropicana trend. It’s time to don your sunglasses and get ready for an exciting explosion of colour.
The runways
The summer season always provides the perfect excuse to sport sizzling shades, and this year is no different. We loved the fun, striking hues paraded down the catwalk by Robert Cavalli’s models. The bold shades ranged from graphic floral designs to more abstract splashes of colour.
Stella Jean’s fashion-forward approach channelled the tropical trend without a floral print in sight. The models strutted down the runway in a plethora of bright colours, teamed with animal print and dynamic Creole style motifs. The overall effect was just as vibrant as a piñata!
The high street
The high street has really turned up the heat too, with a whole ‘jungle’ of options available. Look out for sizzling shades of orange and turquoise and striking designs to help you feel like you’re on holiday, even if you’re staying closer to home.
The interiors
First of all, in our living room, we wanted a vibrant display that emulated the whole tropical trend in one. Our Electric Aqua Venetian blind is simply stunning, adding a pop of colour while controlling the light in the most stylish way. With so much to look at – palm tree wallpaper, zingy blinds, a fun flamingo ornament – we can’t pick our favourite element!
With all that colour, we were inspired to bring some sunshine to our interior. Over in our study, we picked a wallpaper to really get our pulses racing! We complemented the eye-catching design with our Sherborne Orange Roller blind and matching loft blinds.
In our dining area, we plumped for a touch of the tropic with a patterned Roller blind. Our Tahiti Khaki blind features a striking floral design in fantastic mauve and olive shades, combined with complementary curtains. Or for an alternative look, opt for patterned curtains and a plain Roman blind instead.
For our kid’s room, we picked out an exciting safari print. This patterned Roman blind has a collection of animals for your very own little explorer to tick off their list! We finished off the window with thick blackout curtains to encourage a good night’s sleep.
