In this article we teamed up with Will Taylor of Bright Bazaar and Houzz to find out how to inject colour into the home.
A gorgeous ombre mural that transformed a living room with memories of a tropical paradise has been named the most creative colour use in our competition, judged by Will Taylor of Bright.Bazaar.
Here’s what Rebecca has to say about styling her home in such an eye-catching way:
“I was inspired by the colours of the sunsets on the beautiful island of Mustique, where my husband and I spent our honeymoon. On a dreary, rainy day this vast splash of colour lifts the spirits and takes us back to that tropical paradise!”
The competition was judged by Will Taylor of Bright.Bazaar. Will had this to say about the winning entry:
“Bright.Bazaar has always been about encouraging my readers to get inspiration for design and colour palettes from their experiences in travel and the natural environment.
“So, as I read that Rebecca's colourful wall mural in her living space was inspired by the colours of the sunsets she and her husband saw on the beautiful island of Mustique (where they honeymooned!), I knew instantly it was the winning use of creative colour.
“The gorgeous ombre effect of the mural is a fine example of how you can use bright colours in a room without them becoming domineering or overpowering. Instead, they can be subtle, calming and uplifting all at the same time – just like they are here. Bravo, Rebecca!”
