Urban Luxe

This multifunctional space artfully blends styles in a hard-working whole. The dining area reflects the industrial features of the Crittall windows, while the informal seating area is altogether softer. The homeowner has cleverly fitted the curtain track along the length of the window and adjoining wall, so that the curtains can be pulled right away from the windows to reveal the gorgeous garden beyond, and at the same time provide a wonderful textural backdrop to the relaxed seating.

Scandi in the city

This pared-back bedroom scheme has a real Danish sensibility, with whitewashed floorboards and all-white walls. Rough textured woollen throws are teamed with super soft cashmere blankets in mid-winter hues, with vintage drawers and an easy chair bringing a surprising hint of warmth. Pure white wooden shutters are the perfect choice for this understated look.

Emporium of curiosities

Play with scale and form to create a fascinating interior that’s full of interest and intrigue. The oversized lamp dominates this schoolroom-style living room, sharing space with weirdly fascinating anatomical drawings and occassional tables that could almost get up and walk on human legs. A look like this demands a window dressing that can hold its own, and these beautiful grey wool curtains look right at home among these strong silhouettes.

True blue

Top interior designers recommend filling your home with things you love, and this eclectic victoriana-meets-mid-century living room shouldn’t work, but somehow it just does. Forget-me-not blue walls provide a cool foil for the slouchy velvet sofa in this season’s must-have burnt orange hue. Mid-century armchairs and an ikat rug are unlikey partners, but the colours in the rug cleverly pull the look together. Solid wooden shutters custom-painted to perfectly match the walls set the tone for this stylish period property.
