Bedroom styled by Erica Davies

To showcase the gorgeous styles in our new Roller blind collection we asked stylist and fashion journalist Erica Davies to design an Urban Glamour bedroom using fabrics from the range

Erica’s combined love of pink and green was the inspiration behind this encompassing scheme. Erica knew immediately that she wanted to dress her windows with both Roller blinds and Roman blinds in order to maximise light and privacy. An Urban Glamour look is cool and edgy, so Erica was drawn to abstract, geometric prints. To start, Erica chose a semi-sheer Xavier White Roller blind. She loved the way that the zig-zag pattern gave the sheer fabric a subtle depth. Erica teamed this with another geometric Nexus Blush Roman blind to add texture and bring in the essential blush pink hue.

Bring boutique style home

Dark and dashing

Erica’s take on Urban Glamour is consciously subtle and muted, making it much more accessible and suited to a wide range of home styles. But one element of this sophisticated trend that Erica has embraced is the dramatically dark décor, which acts as an anchor for the luxe detailing. Erica has chosen a deep green hue for her walls and added wood panelling to create a hip-meets-heritage feel. The classic period detailing, juxtaposed with some of the edgier details, such as the giant faux-cactus and neon lighting, create a sense of frisson within the room.

Geo for it

Geometric designs are ideally suited to a look that’s all about sophistication and edge. These cerebral styles are remarkable in that they can appear both timeless and ultra-modern, effortlessly pulling together the classic and uber-cool elements within the room to create a sense of carefully crafted coherence. The sheer white Roller blind together with the soft pink Roman blind bring an unexpected softness and feminine sensibility to the dark aesthetic.

L is for luxe

Luxe metallics are a key feature of the Urban Glamour look, but they can whisper softly within the design. The aged patina of a vintage brass bed adds character and class, while the sculptural beauty of an iconic sputnik ceiling light quietly demands attention. The base of the footstool and the bedside accessories in Erica’s bedroom provide high shine contrast and even the golden glow of the neon light adds to the understated luxe feel.

Rough edge

What really makes this trend so exciting is the way in which cool, urban styling sits alongside the more luxe elements. Look out for slubby rugs, vintage throws and cushions to mix in with luxury textiles like cashmere, velvet and leather. In Erica’s design, the clothes rail, seventies wall art and Wild West cactus bring an eclectic New York loft feel that’s dynamic, achingly cool and very, very now.
