Let us help you choose the perfect curtains to help your child sleep better

All parents know the importance of a good night's sleep for their children. Apart from obvious steps like a regular wind-down routine, and decorating the bedroom in restful, muted tones, you can also make the wise decision to add a blackout lining to your kids curtains. They'll help reduce the amount of light getting in and hopefully result in a longer night's sleep.

Block out the light

All of our childrens curtains are lined as standard. Alternatively, you can choose a blackout lining. This heavy curtain lining significantly reduces the amount of light coming into a room, helping to create a dark and cosy environment for sleep.

Blackout curtains really are an all-year round solution. Close them in summer to block out the light when early morning and late evening sun can cause havoc with sleeping routines.

In winter, keep them drawn to help your room feel snug and warm, and reduce heat loss through your windows.

Choose calming colours

Calm, soothing colours for your children's curtains will work better to create a restful environment for your child than bold, stimulating colours.

These hues have a calming effect, creating a serene atmosphere that is perfect for winding down before bedtime.

Pastels and neutral tones like the eyelet curtains show here also provide a versatile backdrop that can easily adapt to different themes or color schemes as your child grows.

Greens and blues inspired by the sky, water, or grass will also work really well in your kids room. These colours create a connection to the outdoors, for a refreshing and peaceful atmosphere that encourages relaxation and imaginative play.

Layer with a blind

While blackout curtains do dramatically reduce the light filtering into a room, there may be some light seepage around the top and the edges of the curtains.

A made to measure blackout blind fitted to perfectly to your window will help reduce the light even further. Pair with blackout curtains for maximum impact, or for flexible light control go for Voile curtains. They'll softly filter the natural light while providing privacy in the day, and at night the Roman blind will keep things darks and cosy.

All our blinds either have a cord-free mechanism, or come with a safety device in line with the latest European regulations. This safety feature will be installed by your local advisor at the time of fitting.

Standing the test of time

Blackout curtains aren't just a great way to block the light, they're excellent insulators too. The extra lining helps reduce the amount of heat lost through your child's bedroom window to help keep the space warm and snug.

Did you know, our curtains are lovingly made in our Nottingham-based factory, where they are also tested to ensure they met the highest standards of quality for years to come.

So while children grow up in the apparent blink of an eye, our curtains will stand the test of time at your windows.
