How to clean pergolas

For the best results, clean your pergola on a dry day. Avoid cleaning your pergola in wet, windy weather, as this can leave marks or streaks behind.

Start by clearing the area beneath your pergola. Move any outdoor furniture, cushions or accessories to one side, as these could get wet during the cleaning process.

Using a microfibre cloth or sponge with a solution of warm water and mild soap, wipe down the frame and any visible fixtures.

Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the surface of your pergola. A gentle wipe is usually all it takes.

If your pergola has side screens, these can be cleaned in much the same way:

• Operable louvre side screens
  Fully open the louvres and wipe each section gently with a microfibre cloth and warm, soapy water, ensuring moving parts remain clear of debris.
• Fixed louvre side screens
  A simple wipe-down with warm, soapy water will keep fixed louvre side screens looking their best.
• Retractable side screens
  Fully open the side screen and, using a microfibre cloth, clean the fabric gently using warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water and allow it to fully dry before retracting.

Once everything is clean, rinse the pergola thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue.

Let it air dry naturally, ideally with all louvres open. This helps prevent water marks and keeps everything in great working order.
