From curved and arched windows to sloping and custom shaped designs, unusual windows can make a stunning feature in your home. Finding the right window dressing can sometimes feel like a challenge, but our made to measure blinds, curtains and shutters are designed to fit beautifully.

Here are our top tips for dressing different shaped windows and making the most out of their unique character.

Striking curved windows

Curved windows create a striking focal point, and dressing them with curtains is a great way to complement their shape.

Curtain poles can be fitted above the highest point of the curve, allowing the window to be fully covered when the curtains are closed while showcasing its shape when they’re open.

You could even choose a couple of curtain styles and sit them at different heights for a stylish yet practical finish. Floor-length curtains provide a cosy feel in the evening, while Voiles help maintain a light and airy atmosphere during the day.

Tailored shaped windows

Arched, shaped and custom shaped windows are impressive architectural features that create a unique focal point in any room. However, their unusual designs can make it difficult to find a window dressing that fits perfectly.

Shaped shutters are an ideal solution as they can be crafted to fit virtually any size or configuration. Designed to follow the contours of your window, they create a neat finish that complements the character of your home while offering practical light and privacy control.

  • “I knew that shutters would be the perfect way to frame the view when we fully opened them. I love the fact they tilt too which helps on those really bright days.”

Seamless sloping windows

If your room is tucked into the eaves of the roof or features angled walls, your windows may follow the slope of the space. This can make finding the right window dressing a little tricker.

Vertical blinds are a stylish and functional choice. The individual louvres can be cut to different lengths, allowing them to follow the slope of the window and create a seamless finish.

  • “We wanted privacy in our kitchen as it’s overlooked by other houses but also liked the idea of having our patio doors open - this is why we opted for Vertical blinds as we could control the light level and amount of privacy in the room.”

Streamlined skylight windows

Skylight windows are a popular feature in contemporary extensions and loft conversions, bringing in plenty of natural light. However, bright early-morning sunshine, particularly in the summer months, can be a challenge, especially in loft bedrooms.

From Roller and Pleated blinds to honeycomb blinds, we’ve plenty of great ways to dress skylight and Velux windows. Skylight blinds are also available in performance fabrics, including blackout options for enhanced light control.

Conservatory roof windows

Conservatory roof windows bring lots of light into your space, but they can make it difficult to regulate the temperature throughout the year.

Our conservatory roof blinds offer a practical solution, fitting even the trickiest window shapes. Available in a range of clever performance fabrics, they can help keep your space warm in winter and cool in summer.

For hard-to-reach roof windows, motorised controls offer a convenient way to open and close one or multiple blinds at the touch of a button.

  • “Our new motorised smart blinds have well and truly converted me. There are various advantages to having them and it’s not just for the ‘cool’ aesthetic. They’re also very simple and easy to set up which is a HUGE relief for those less-tech-minded, like myself.”
