One of the many benefits of window shutters is that they create a uniform look at the window, but at the same time, with so many colours, stains and styles to choose from, you can still create spaces that feel really personal. 

Erica's playroom is definitely one of those. Erica wanted this room to be fun and inspirational but also feel connected to the rest of the house. She's achieved this by bringing in all of the colours from the ground floor and matching the wooden shutters to the exact shade of her green stair carpet. The result is a room that's a magnet for anyone under the age of twelve. 

In a busy family home, creating space for yourself can be a challenge. Erica has very cleverly managed to steal a spot on the landing that she can claim for herself. She describes this as her ‘breathing space from the rest of the house’.
